Kendell Kawa began her career in Atlanta, Georgia as an Assistant Art Director for Impact Communications. During her tenure there, she worked on projects from concept creation through completion with the benefit of an in-house printing department. During this time, she was able to use her drawing and design skills to create ads that appeared in such publications as Time, Newsweek, and Sports Illustrated. Upon moving back to her native town of Brick, New Jersey, Kendell worked in freelance graphic design for nine years with several long-term businesses and corporate clients.
